REgulation 44

An Independent Monitoring Visit (commonly referred to as a Regulation 44 Visit) takes place once a month inside Residential Children's Homes. An independent inspector comes to visit the home to check if it is a safe place for children and young people to live.

This person does not work for the government, police or social services & is completely independent of the organisation. This visit is in line with Regulation 44 in the The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

When the inspector visits, the primary focus is on the safeguarding of children & ensuring they are happy, healthy & receiving the most appropriate support during the most crucial years of their lives.

Our inspectors ensure that where they live is safe, and provides a healthy, happy environment for them to thrive in.

They will also make sure that the wishes and feelings of your young people are the primary focus of your visit.

As part of each visit, the inspector will seek to gain the views of parents, social workers & other professionals working with the young people in addition the young people's views form a vital part of the independent monitoring visit.
